 The river Ganges traverses Eastern India along with its numerous tributaries, most of them gushing down from the Himalayas. These rivers from have been the lifeline of Eastern India since time immemorial. They have been worshiped, loved, and cared by the native people here in East India. The most important contribution of the Eastern India to the world is the birth of two great religions of the world, Buddhism and Jainism. These religions not only showed the world an alternative way of living life but also changed their perspective towards other religions. After the decline of great empires like Mauryas and Guptas, the region for long remained under the control of powers to be in north India (mainly Delhi and Agra). Regional kingdoms like Pals and nawabs of Bengal, Ahoms of Assam, and Afghans of Bihar continued to show their might time to time, but nobody could ensure the establishment of a large empire as that of Chandragupta Maurya or Samudragupta.
